How can I add images directly into a photoshop document without opening each image in photoshop and copying?

November 26, 2009 - 11:18 am 1 Comment

E.g. i want to quickly add multiple photos to a single document as layers in photoshop to create a montage, but it takes such a long time to open each individual image, select it, and copy and paste it into the a4 document.
Is there an easier way to add photos directly to layers?

•Create a new document in Photoshop
•File>Place
•Browse to desired image.

Can anyone suggest a good CMS system for this problem?

Hi,

I have a requirement to develop a system for multiple users to use that will do the following:

*Allow users to create a new project area.
*A project area can have files uploaded to it which will be version controlled.
*Each project will also have some standard information that is required by all projects, I want to capture this information through web forms if possible which will then generate xml files which are stored in the project area, for downloading, editing etc.
*Allow users to add dates for the project to a calendar and send e-mail reminders.

Can anyone suggest some good Content Management software to allow me to do this? So far I have tried Alfresco which has some of these features but they are not all together, they are split into 2 areas which don’t seem to work together.

Thanks

Karl
I would build my own but i dont have much time, i need to use open source software to speed up development. Can anyone suggest any?

You may contact a CMS expert live at website like definitivelab.com ,etc .

Are web content management systems easy to use and do you need codes for them?

November 24, 2009 - 6:46 am 3 Comments

I am IT literate but have never used them before. Is it easy to write information and load them up onto the website or is there specfic information that I should know before using one?

All CMS are written to be as versatile as possible. As such, they do contain HUGE amounts of functions you will never use, and require HUGE amounts of space to be loaded (Joomla is 27Mb of code!!!).
Although very versatile, they NEVER solve ALL your specific needs, and you always end-up adding functions yourself.
Their use require you to understand exactly what you are doing, or face the problems of "finding why" the CMS does not perform as expected, by going through megabytes of scripts only prefessionals with experience can understand.
Conclusion?
I have removed many CMS, from Joomla, Drupal, Miva and others, and replaced them with my own, taylor-made code.
Result?
A clear and understandable code, 100 to 200kb only, specifically adapted to client’s needs.
If you can use Joomla, you CAN write code.
And if you can write code, why would you use any off-the shelf CMS but your own????

Writing your own may take you a few days, but understanding another CMS and finding a bug in them WILL take you weeks.
Your choice!

How to save a Photoshop Image Ready moving document into a GIFF or JPEG.?

November 24, 2009 - 6:46 am 1 Comment

Well, my computer knowledge isn’t so good when it comes to saving or merging documents my skills arnt so good. I just made a moving picture document in Adobe Photo Image Ready and it only saves in Photoshop format. I was wondering how to save it so I could put it on a website. Such as in giff or jpeg or whatever can transfer to a website.

Go to File > Save optimized as…, then select .gif from the drop down menu.

You could be a photographer, for one.

How do I transfer a ""microsoft office document image file" to git or jpg?

My samsung scx4521f only saves in this format. how can I changes it to something I can share easily?

ok , as for scanning.. I just had a look your scanner supports "twain" which is good news, you can use a program such as >

http://www.filehippo.com/download_irfanview/

and the plugins for it >

http://www.tucows.com/preview/415586

basically you can use irfanview, use "aqquire" off the scan menu, scan and it will be onscreen as a graphic.. which you can save out as a jpeg or gif file or pdf file..

the easiest way to scan documents is to use PDF format, as most people have acrobat reader and the files are small.

i’m assuming your using a PC, basically if your using a mac its the same principle. you need to get a graphics program + twain driver.

irfan view should open MS office graphic formats and you just use "save as" then either jpeg or gif. your question is a bit confusing to be honest, hope that helps.

Where can I find web content pros in NYC please?

November 19, 2009 - 10:13 pm 1 Comment

I am trying to contact web content professionals working on managing content or web projects at web sites or web agencies in NYC (not designers, programmers or technology people – content). Are you one of those? Do you know anyone I could talk to?

My client (I am an independant consultant) Synomia.com is the leader of site search software in France. They now have the biggest market share in site search software in France. They product is a very advanced, very automated, and a very affordable hosted search software for large content web sites (government sites, educational institutions, large corporate sites, etc.).

The goal is to profile the current needs of these professionals in the area of site search services and software. In practical terms, I will organize a meeting attended by senior Synomia management and structured like a high-level focus group on: web usability, content management, web information architecture, search usability, audience measurement on large web properties.

We are not selling anything. We just want your help in understanding what professionals in the US need in the area of site search. Depending on your input, this could become a launch pad for a position with Synomia later or a partnership with your employer (agencies, web integrators, etc.).

We will be in NYC in a couple of weeks. I have been a specialist of Internet software for over 15 years now (Netscape, Infoseek, Disney Internet, etc.). I have created a consulting company that helps European and US-based software publishers, resellers, and buyers partner to take advantage of unique technologies that only exist in one of these two regions.

Thanks in advance for your help and feel free to call on my if there is ever anything I can help with!
Best regards,
Dan

" I have been a specialist of Internet software for over 15 years now " yeah right. And you need to ask answers? Sorry dude if I sense a lot of hot air here.

Ever heard of elance or rent-a-coder then? There’s ten more such sites, they are HUGELY KNOWN and have all the top writers..

anybody know a great camera and imaging software?

November 19, 2009 - 10:13 pm 4 Comments

i want to buy a camera and imaging software because im insterested in taking up photography so please tell me your suggestions?
thanks.

It all depends on your budget and "where" do you want to start.
I mean, you don’t really have to start with a DLSR if you don’t know if you are serious about photography.
So if you are just interested, buy a like the Canon Powershot S5 IS at about 500$(check more here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Canon/canon_s5is.asp) or just a Canon Powershot S3 IS for 300$(http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons3is/page14.asp).

If you are very serious about starting photography start with a SLR such as Canon Rebel XT for 600$. Okay, the price sounds cheap but you’ll have to buy lenses with it and good lenses are very, very expensive and once you have a bunch of accessories you can’t give up photography so easily so buying a DSLR is about long term investment.

For the software, Adobe Photoshop without hesitation.
That software is pretty expensive except if you download it illegally…
If not, Photofiltre may be an OK program (I don’t personally have it).

Clearing Browser (IE7) Cache not working?

November 19, 2009 - 10:13 pm 1 Comment

Hi,

I am using an open source content management system and I am having a problem that is unique to Internet Explorer (v7). Specifically, when I update the content of my site and save my changes, although the website accurately reflects my changes, when I go back to view the content item in the administrator portion of my site, the changes are not reflected. Only when I go to Tools -> Internet Options –> Browsing -> Delete Temporary Internet Files will the latest changes appear. The browser seems to be caching old values every time I make a change to the content of my site. My settings are such that the browser is configured to look for a new version of the site on each visit to the webpage. I have confirmed that this is not an issue with Firefox, just Internet Explorer. Any ideas?
I have tried the "Delete All" option under browsing in IE7 and this works ONLY for the current session. When I make changes to my content again and save the changes, I reload the page and it is cached with the old value. So, I need a more viable solution than this.

open ie >> tools >>options >> delete all

What (item, image, place, document, event) best symbolizes the concept of (or struggle for) freedom in the US?

November 19, 2009 - 10:13 pm 5 Comments

I am writing a history paper and I would like some suggestions on what would be a good item, image, place, document, or event that symbolizes freedom and creates unity among the diversity of people, places, and ideas that exist within the nation.

Several obvious symbols can not be used
These are:

•The Flag
•The Great Seal of the United States
•The Statue of Liberty

I was thinking about doing the Emancipation Proclamation. Would this be a good topic to write this paper on? Any other ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated!
