How To Structure Your Cover Letter
March 23, 2010 - 3:50 pm
The first paragraph should be a simple introduction, telling the reader why you are sending your resume. The second paragraph should paraphrase your experience and how it relates to the company’s open position in 4 to 5 sentences. The final paragraph should boldly state your desired outcome.
Strangers are much more likely to speak to you after an introduction, than if you suddenly rambled on about a topic they are unprepared to discuss. The cover letter should be written to each position and not be a form letter. Make sure and use the same paper as used for your resume and end the letter with your signature written in black ink.
