Jave specialists help me.?

September 11, 2009 - 1:30 pm 3 Comments

I have a 1 gig flash drive that has a content management software on it. My work computers do not have and will not allow me to install JRE.

Can JRE be installed on the flash drive just so it can run that program ?

You could probably install it on the flash drive, but not recommended. And you would need to change the Environment Variables for the JRE to point to the flash drive, and since it sounds like your work computers have software that doesn’t allow you to change the computer’s state, it will probably be reverted when you log off or restart your computer, so no it won’t work.

Network Management Software?

September 5, 2009 - 4:33 pm 1 Comment

Hi,

I’m just about to rent out a few of my rooms to some flatmates and there’s going to be a shared internet connection (all WiFi). I was wondering if there’s any software that I can use that will restrict access to illegal sites only? I don’t intend on choosing what sites they can and cannot go on but I don’t want them using my internet connection to go onto any illegal sites/download illegal content.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I need a good/creative name for a piece of e-commerce software – does anyone have any ideas?

September 3, 2009 - 7:23 pm 3 Comments

This is a piece of software that makes the content/product management aspect of running an online store very simple and user friendly. For example, some competitors in this space use "zencart", "shopify", and "clientcart". These are the types of names I am interested in – provided they do not violate other trademarks.

You will have to do your own trademark search because I have NO idea:

E-Cart
E-Basket
E-Shop
Electronic Sales Incorporated (E.S.I.)
Shop and Drop
E-Market
Bag It! (might be offensive, but could be clever?)
Paper or Plastic.com
Shopper’s Helper
Shopper’s Dream
EasyShop
Convenience Store (some way to play on these words?)

I think that might be the end of my tiny brainstorm – hope it helped or maybe made you think of something. I don’t know what’s already out there or anything. Good luck!
