What are the different steps to merge my own Photoshop mock-up to my Joomla Content Management Service?

October 24, 2009 - 3:56 pm 2 Comments

I want to use CSS, not tables.

Please give me detailed steps (1, 2, 3) or if you know of a good tutorial, I am interested too.

Thanks!

Jooma is an independent Content Management Systema and its not a easy job to remove its table structure. But You can edit its CSS file and create your own class here and set appropiate class to moke-up your photoshop layout.

and You can USe Wordpress thats table less . I made my personal Blog site with this CMS.

for CSS tutorial go to www.w3schools.com and here you will find your tutorial .

Thanks

What is the best content management web software? (the templatized software you just plug your content into.)?

October 22, 2009 - 4:40 pm 2 Comments

I’m sure I’m wording this wrong, but it’s the software that will automatically format web content that you enter into it, whereas if your content goes too long it’ll just make a new webpage. (So you can have chat, forums, blogs, calendars, etc. already in a bundled package.) If If I’m confusing you or are misguided please feel free to correct me!

What’s a good content management system that includes e-commerce apps that can manage subsciption content?

October 18, 2009 - 10:06 pm 3 Comments

Basically, we’re creating a system to manage subscription content. So we need a WYSYWIG system (similar to WordPress or Moveable Type) that will let an editor / writer make contributions and manage four/five categories of content. The solutions should also have the added feature of allowing people to purchase subsciptions and manage their own accounts. In terms of cost and budget, we’re open to spend a little bit of money but obivously cheaper is better.
Thanks if you know of any solutions!

Virtuemart & Joomla are the leading best integrated open source project so far that You must try.

Content management system for a webcomic?

October 14, 2009 - 5:41 pm 1 Comment

A friend of mine (he’s really talented) creates a weekly webcomic, but he was just telling me how sick he is of hand-coding the updates every week. Does anyone know of a content management system that he can make use of? Thanks for your help.

ComicPress is a webcomic CMS that uses a re-configured Wordpress platform. Famous comics that use it are Butternutsquash and PVP.

Your friend could also put his comic up on a webhost that’s specifically for webcomics. The advantage of doing so is that these sites are usually set up with features and templates that make it easier to upload, archive, and maintain a webcomic site.

Some free webcomic hosts are:

ComicGenesis
DrunkDuck
Smackgeeves
ComicDish
ComicFury
WebcomicsNation
Comicspace

All of these sites offer different amounts of space and features, so you should research them carefully to see if they fit your needs.

What are the differences between Joomla and Mambo content management systems?

October 12, 2009 - 2:44 pm 2 Comments

These 2 seem quite similar to me. Does anyone know of any differences or features which one has but the other doesn’t.

They are very closely related – Joomla is what’s known as a "fork" of Mambo. The original group of developers weren’t happy with some of the organisational changes behind Mambo, so they took the code and set up their own organisation to produce Joomla. At present, the systems are very similar, but it’s likely they will diverge as time goes on.

What is the need for technical knowledge if we can build entire websites using web content management system?

October 6, 2009 - 7:52 pm 1 Comment

Why do we need to learn web technologies if there are web content management systems that can build entire websites with ease?

By using web content management systems, can we do all the work that can be done using html, css, xml, javascript, php etc?

If you just want to write content and have little control over your layout and functionality (except for templates other people have made using that exact technical knowledge), then sure, there is no need for you to learn them.

However, as soon as you want to add something to your website which has not already been written, or make your own bespoke layout, or understand how your SEO is working, or promote yourself, you will need to know these skills. There are some good tutorials at http://www.openzu.com if you do want to learn.
