My son has his own schedule. He wakes up when he wants and goes to bed when he wants. Today I got him though. Normally when you try to wake him up from his nap it takes him about 20 minutes to actually fully wake up. What this means is that he is still getting an extra 20 minutes of sleep when he should be wide awake. So, to combat this, today I decided to wake him up 20 minutes earlier than normal. This way when he finally does wake up fully, it will actually be the time that he was suppose to be up in the first place.
