What is the best computer I can get today for medical imaging processing?

November 4, 2009 - 4:38 pm 1 Comment

I work at the radiology department of a hospital. A lot of the work involves image processing like segmentation. Programs that I need to use show the body and other things in 3D.

What is the best computer I can use today?
It has to go fast.
It has to be stable
It has to be able to show interactive 3D volumes easily.
It has to be able to deal with large amounts of data.

well a lot of hospitals use tablets. i would go and spend the extra money to buy a really good computer. apples are good and so fujitsu. fujitsu tablets are VEry good.

In Telemedicine,is the imaging done at the patient site processed before being sent to a physician else where?

November 2, 2009 - 3:30 am 2 Comments

For example-In the remote site, the patient is being imaged using any technique like X-Ray,MRI,CT etc….My Question is, in telemedicine is the image sent to the physician elsewhere in the world as a raw data or is it being sent as a processed one?
In other words is the Image Acquisition part and also the image processing part located at the remote patient site, Or are they in separate places?

telemedicine? Imaging? You mean where I flag down a T-80 and use his radio to crackle off a crude description to a specialist and await his crackly, distorted reply? Possible though a relay station or two, who further screw up the information with mis-pronouncation of words, somehow turning a request for medical advice into a request for a barrage of 220mm thermobaric rockets?

How do I get started in a Diagnostic Imaging career in a hospital?

October 26, 2009 - 3:25 pm 2 Comments

I am a 38 year old stay at home mom that finally knows what she wants to be when she grows up. I don’t want xray tech so much as I do MRI Tech or Cardiology Tech something like that. I have High School and that is it.

Go to your local community college and get into their RadTech program. Most schools have them and you have to keep a B average or better, and they do offer job placement assistance.

How much does Holland Photo Imaging charge for processing and printing a roll of 120 film?

October 14, 2009 - 5:41 pm 2 Comments

I feel like an idiot, but their online pricelist is slightly confusing.
Their online pricelist is slightly confusing. Regular processing, 4×6 or 6×6.
Not for an online order, actually dropping the film off and picking it up.

The online pricelist is for online orders only – you need to upload the pics.
Below the online pricelist at www.hollandphoto.com there is a link to the downloadable pdf pricelist for all products
for 120 film prices are as follows:
Developing only:
E-6 (slides I think) $ 8.45
C-41 (colour negative film) $ 6,30
B&W : $ 7,95
B&W plus contact prints: $ 12,20 (this can be an interesting option for larger negatives e.g. for 6×9 cm or 6×6 cm you can scan the contact prints easily and have them enlarged from the files)

Printing and processing costs as follows:
C-41 120 film (colour)
10 exp. 1 copy : 4×5 inch : $ 13,20 with 2 copies: $18.40
10 exp. 1 copy 5×5 inch: : $ 14,20 with 2 copies: $ 21,10
12 exp. 1 copy: 4×5: $ 14.58 , 2 copies 20,82
12 exp. 1 copy 5×5: $ 15,78, 2 copies $ 22.86

B&W 120 film is a little bit more expensive it ranges from
$ 15.85 for 10 exposures, 1 copy (of each neg) 4×5 inch
to $ 28.71 for 12 exposures, 2 copies each, 5×5 inch.

I suggest you go to there website:
