How much is the cost of a custom content management system?

I just need a typical range. (Please don’t advertise your company’s services to me)
It really depends on what features you want. If it can be built on an existing CMS like Wordpress, Drupal, or Joomla, then you’re probably looking at $10k-$15k for a basic site.
If you need something proprietary built from the ground up (such as custom back-office software), then you’re looking at $40k+. Add on community features (like forums, custom account pages, Twitter/Facebook integration), and you can easily add another $10k onto that.
