What is a content management system? – How does it work (basic english lol)?

hey im new to user systems as all my websites are basic
http://ihome.co.nr < and I am thinking of setting up a user system and just lots of info would help… like where to start! thnx

A content management system is basically something that helps you put information (like news posts) on your website without having to open and edit your files directly.

I hope that’s simple English for ya! ;)

    I only want to suggest to look at opensource projects like
    http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&type_of_search=soft&words=content+management+system
    where people have tried to make CMS (content management system) website and you can use their programming codes to study /understand/modify for your website.
