The Multiple Degrees of Fulfillment
In fact, if a person carefully studies his writings, he will be able to clearly see that Maslow offers degrees of fulfillment of each need and the interaction amongst needs.
“A theory that predisposes one to focus more on individual freedom and development rather than the larger social reality, works in favor of that reality” (Pearson & Podeschi, 1999)
I am convinced that this particular statement reflects that attitude of an individual with a limited perspective in two areas. The first is in the area of what self actualized people contribute to their communities and the second is the complete lack of understanding of what just the presence of a self actualized person in the midst of others can do to the development of that group of individuals.
