If you are able to make a 2% payment on your unsecured debt, a credit counseling company should be able to have you debt free in about five years. This happens because your interest rates are lowered and you will no longer being paying over limit or late fees. It is important that you make your payments on time (your payment will probably be an automatic withdrawal) and this will help you begin to pay off your debt and move forward. Dealing with debt is not easy. It is a great source of stress and will invade many areas of your life.
