Video Game Violence
As far as playing video games it has often been promoted “If they play these games they will become axe murderers” (paraphrased platitude of course- very few real axe murders in history anyway).
Really? So watching NASCAR and playing driving games would make me a super star of a racer then right? Well let me go line up some sponsers right now!
This logic is so much BS and promoted by the “don’t worry, it is not your fault” crowd that believes people (and children) are not accountable for their actions. Are they considered “progressives”, hmmm, I wonder).
I am not going to sit here and bore you with statistics and numbers. Anyone can use statistical data to promote what ever agenda they what to, you can interpret numbers to say anything. The real fact remains that violent video games have proliferated exponentially ever since Duck Hunt first came out (am I telling my age here?) and there has not been a correlating increase in violent actions amongst the audience that plays them.
Given the advances in technology, video cards graphics (pretty cool post by a 12 year old on that link) the realism with in these games has gotten as close to reality as ever before, still no increases in teenager serial killers. What actually has increased is the sensationalism the media (and I mean ALL media) puts of the few occurrences of these tragic events, then they look for reason for them happening. Here’s one: How about “that person was unstable to begin with!”
Good gaming to ya!
